This tutorial will help you install + use hldj, and it will show you how to convert the
music.
Step 1. Go to http://www.hldj.org/downloads.html and download the Latest Release.
Step 2. Go to http://www.hlss.us/index.php?p=1 and download "dBpowerAMP Music Converter 11.5"
and "GoldWave 5.20" Please Ignore the HLSS download because HLSS Sucks, this link just gives
you the converter programs.
Step 3. Convert your music with dBpowerAMP Music Converter, keep in mind, you do NOT have to
open the program to do this, just right click the song, and click Convert To. What you need
to covert to is in SS.
Once they are converted you may put them in your HLDJ Folder in the AUDIO folder, If you want
you can make subfolders with different music to Browse (Sound Effects) (Funny Music) (Real
Music)
Step 4. Linking HLDJ to CS:S, or any other game. (I'll use CS:S as an example.)
-Click Yes on the First Popup, then click OK, then Yes again. Name your game, Place the
Engine as Source, select your play key.
-Directory should be Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Steam > SteamApps > *username* >
counter-strike source > CLICK on cstrike.
-If the orb at the bottom is GREEN you are goodand you may press SELECT, if GRAY, you have
done something wrong.
Click the GREEN ARROW int he Add All Games window, it will automatically find any other game
files, but I usually name mine, Click the game you want, then click the GREEN ARROW again.
Click the GREEN PLAY BUTTON to launch your game, as well as HLDJ.
To browse through individual folders type LA in console, and type the # of the song you want,
or the subfolder of the music you want.
*NOTE* If your music is messed up ingame, you have to convert it further using goldwave.* *Use of this program is not allowed in STEAMGAMER Servers*
I got the time to add the edit so heres the goldwave section.
*Note, if the opened file in goldwave is within the .5 sound bars, or around .5-.6 it should
be fine*
Step 1. Open Goldwave, simple enough...
Step 2. Click the folder named Open, and open the .wav file that is static like in CS:S or
other games.
Step 3. Go to Effect, Filter, Equilizer.
Step 4. Take the song about 3-5 to the left and click OK, repeat until it is within the .6-.5
area. *Note. I find this the best volume area, but anything that is within 1.0 is good,
anything above that has horrible bass.*
Step 5. Save over old version, or make a new file if you wish, and put music / .wav file back
into HLDJ Folder.
Again - *Use of this program is not allowed in STEAMGAMER Servers*
